Annual summer meeting 2019
Celebrating another successful year at Claremont Fan Court School
Over 2000 parents, pupils, alumni and staff gathered on the lawn to hear speeches from pupils, our chair of governors, Mr Hunt, headmaster, Mr Brierly and guest speaker, JB Gill who reminded us that determination often overrules talent.
Our head boy and head girl addressed their peers one last time to reminisce about their time at the school and the memories they will cherish and lessons they will carry with them.
The mansion and grounds were a hive of activity. This year’s alumni tent featured a display on Sir Sydney Camm, chief designer for Hawker Aircraft, who took up residence in the mansion during the Second World War and whom our newest building is named after. We were lucky to be joined by Kingston Aviation who were on hand to talk to parents and pupils about the significant part the school played in the war effort.
We were also delighted to be able to showcase a number of models made by the prep school pupils for a humanities competition, which included models of Hawker Hurricanes and the mansion.
This year we welcomed back seven alumni football teams and a lacrosse team for the alumni sports morning.
The lacrosse was a close game, with the alumni team only losing by one point. The current school team may have walked away with the medals this year, but we cannot wait for next year's rematch.
We were thrilled (if not slightly nervous) to welcome Dad’s Army to this year's football tournament, the first time a parent team has ever played at the alumni sports morning, but hopefully not the last. Every single team gave it their all and the final came down to our reigning champions, The Golden Generation and our current school team, with The Golden Generation taking the shield for the third year in a row.
Thank you to everyone that attended summer meeting, including the family and friends who came to support the alumni sports morning, together with the staff that helped make the event a success.
We would like to say an extra special thank you to every alumnus that came out to play for the school once again, these are the moments memoires are made of and we hope you will continue to make many more, for many years to come.
