As a boy's preparatory school there was shortage of girls to fill the female lead roles in 1951, but as they say the show must go on!
The annual Fan Court plays of the 1950's seem to have had an historic theme, with titles such as Queen Elizabeth play (1951) and King Charles play (1952). What a fun way to bring history to life.
You can view more images of the 1951, '52 and '53 plays in the photo gallery attached.
Fan Court School opened in 1932 as a boy's preparatory school, in Longcross, Surrey. It did later admit girls, daughters of staff members and sisters with siblings in the school. In 1978 Fan Court merged with Claremont (a girl's senior school) and relocated to the Claremont site in Esher. The original Fan Court estate was sold off and broken up into a number of private residential properties. If you would like to learn more about Fan Court please visit the dedicated Fan Court page on our alumni site.
