Heritage Open Day is a celebration of England's architecture and culture allowing visitors free access to historical landmarks normally requiring an entrance fee or rarely open to the public.
Once again over two hundred visitors came along to learn about Claremont House and its fascinating history. Visitors were invited to self-tour around the Mansion’s ground floor rooms, where information boards and pictures were provided. Our School historian, Mrs Pamela Rider (1961-64, Astor) led three sold-out guided tours, sharing her enormous knowledge and enthusiasm for Claremont’s history. Friend of Claremont Fan Court School, Mrs Leigh, led the Tree Tour visiting some of the school's significant specimen trees and sharing their historical significance.
Our visitors included local residents, international travellers and some of our own alumni community whom we were delighted to welcome back with their families.
“Many thanks to the school for opening today. It was a wonderful experience with an enthusiastic knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed visiting The Belvedere and the delicious tea.”
“I'd like to thank you and everyone else who was involved in yesterday's opening for a really interesting visit. I had not been inside the Mansion since 1958 but so much was recognisable, and it was lovely to see it in such great condition.”
